Azad’s Martial Arts Family Center is kicking off a new program for all children called “Academic Self Defense”.  This program provides all kids (1^st grade-12^th grade) in our community with special afterschool academic tutoring classes on daily basis Mondays through Thursdays 3pm-4:30pm.  All youth may attend Academic Self Defense tutoring sessions in all subject areas including basic Math to Calculus, Sciences, Reading, Writing, English, Languages, etc.

The goal of Academic Self Defense is to empower all youth in our community to enjoy learning and participating in school and to help them with their academic success.  This program is FREE for all kids.  Azad’s will also provide school supplies for the tutoring sessions FREE of charge.  This is to ensure access and availability for each child regardless of his/her family’s financial background.  Kids can take advantage of the Academic Self Defense and may attend as many classes as they wish for any length of time between 3-4:30pm.  Classes will be held at Azad’s Martial Arts Family Center located at 313 Walnut St. Suite 150, (corner of 4^th Street and Walnut Street or Nord Ave) in Chico.

Parents must call at least 24 hours ahead of time to pre-register their kids for each session to guarantee a spot for the tutoring.  There is limited space and attendance is based on first come first serve and by pre-registration.  Over 25 adult tutors have been screened and registered by the C.A.V.E program at California State University Chico to participate in Azad’s Academic Self Defense program and are committed to help the children to succeed in their academic life.
