There are so many reasons to tell you why I love doing karate at Azad's Martial Arts. I want to tell you why I practice martial arts, what it means to me, what I'm gaining from the experience and how it has changed my life. Martial Arts has become a huge part of my life and has helped make me who I am today. I was first introduced to Karate at my elementary school Little Chico Creek. There was an opportunity to take lessons as an after school class, and my curiosity told me to go for it! After that, it was my absolute favorite thing to do. I love it so much that I always am trying to get better and because of that skill and dedication, I got my junior black belt and accepted into the teen program.

There are many reason why I practice Martial Arts. The main reason why I practice martial art is that I will always know how to protect myself in bad situations. I will also be able to stick up for other people when I see them being picked on or bullied. I practice martial arts because I like to be able to help others and myself. Because of martial arts I can stick up for others who can't stick up for themselves. I can help them gain confidence in themselves by being their friend when they need someone the most. Lastly, I love martial arts because I think Azad's Martial Arts is super fun and awesome!

Martial arts push me to be a better person. It helps by teaching me respect (being kind), discipline (doing the right thing), self-control (restraint over my emotions), patience (waiting quietly), courtesy (being kind to others), courage (being brave), integrity (being honest), perseverance and indomitable spirit (never giving up). These life skills help me become a better person. At Azad's we are taught that martial art is not just a sport, but a way of life. We learn life skills that will help me be a better person throughout my life that I will never forget and always use those skills.

I started martial arts when I was in second grade because I was being picked on at school. I needed the confidence and ability to stand up for myself. I now not only can stand up for myself, but look out for others too. Martial arts is not just physical but also other skills as well. I know everyone needs to work on themselves ever day to make yourself better and I can't wait to master these skills like my Instructors. I see myself continuing with karate and becoming an adult black belt and even an instructor myself. Being able to control everything I learn at Azad's is a lot of work, but being able to help people who have trouble sticking up for themselves and being a better person because of all I am learning is such a rewarding feeling. It makes all my effort and work completely worth it!

Azad's Martial Arts means a lot to me! Azad's Martial Arts is like half of my life. One reason is that it keeps me busy, active, and in shape. Azad's Martial Arts means so much some that it's my second home. Martial Arts means no more bullying, but learning to stand up for myself, while having fun. In addition I feel a hundred and ten percent better when I walk through the doors of the dojang and put on my dobok. I seem to hear a voice saying "Welcome back Ashlynn, glad you are here" every time I walk through the door of the dojang. It makes me feel amazing knowing how much martial arts means to me and how much I have meant to Azad's.

I am getting several things out of doing martial arts. I get enjoyable exercise from martial arts, where I get to work out with some wonderful people. I get to hopefully help others to live a better life by being able to stand up for them to not get teased, picked on, pushed around or even bossed by someone. Martial Arts has given me the confidence I did not start out with in the beginning.

There are multiple things I could say about Azad's Martial Arts. I told you why I practice martial arts, what it means to me, what I'm getting from it and how it helps me. Everything above only covers some of the feelings I have about martial arts. It makes me feel awesome knowing how much martial arts means to me and how much it helps me and others! Because of Azad's I have become a better person all around and can be an example to others to be a good person.

“Since I have been in karate my confidence has kind of done this flip flop and is showing a more mature side of me. I have confidence that I will excel in everything I do in school, I just need to try. Although I no longer have the confidence that I can eat half of a large pizza and have room for 2 bowls of ice cream. I have confidence in seeking friends so now I can go and hang with a lot of different groups. I no longer think that I have to be extra nice, or give them anything in order for them to be my friend. If they don’t like my style or attitude then they can go hang with some one else. Confidence has made me a better person.”

“Since I’ve been coming to Azad’s, I’m slowly becoming a better person at home, school, and even class. I am getting good grades and I’m turning in my work on time. Before I was always getting picked on because I had never had any friends but at my first class in Azad’s I was able to make friends. I’m still learning new things during school and karate classes.”
